1. Implementation of the Treaty establishing the African Economic Community

The judicious use of these instruments through cooperation and the concerted rationalization of activities could contribute considerably to the implementation of development strategies and plans adopted by the higher organs of the OAU for the benefit of the continent and the attainment of the objectives set out in the Abuja Treaty establishing the African Economic Community.

As regards economic integration, the Abuja Treaty establishing the African Economic Community entered into force more than a year ago.
