13. As part of this process, a DDT expert group was established to assess information relevant to the production and use of DDT and to assist the Conference of the Parties in the evaluation of the continued need for DDT.

The Conference has before it notes by the Secretariat on the evaluation of the continued need for DDT for disease vector control (UNEP/POPS/COP.1/4) and on the summary of responses from Governments on the DDT reporting format and questionnaire, as well as other information relevant to the evaluation of the continued need for DDT for disease vector control (UNEP/POPS/COP.1/INF/5).

The deliberation of the Expert Group concluded that questionnaire could be simplified without compromising the quality of the evaluation of the continued need for DDT by leaving out unnecessary detail and removing questions not directly relevant to the evaluation.
