In light of the interdependence and complementarity of the mandates of the Special Adviser and of UNFICYP and given the extensive knowledge and experience acquired by UNFICYP over the many years of its presence in Cyprus, the Committee would expect that there is scope for finding synergies and that it is possible for UNFICYP to provide support to the Special Adviser of the Secretary-General in carrying out his mandate.
