As part of their reporting on the use of languages, executive heads should submit to their governing bodies information on the status of languages used for work within the secretariat and in that connection, they should indicate:

18. The Executive Director of the International Trade Centre UNCTAD/WTO said that the Centre had drawn attention to the financial implications of increasing the number of languages used for its documentation. It was now for member States to decide how they wished to proceed.
18 - وقال الأمين التنفيذي لمركز التجارة الدولية إن مركز التجارة الدولية وجَّه الانتباه إلى الآثار المالية المترتبة على زيادة عدد اللغات المستخدمة في وضع وثائق مركز التجارة الدولية وإنه يجب على الدول الأعضاء أن تقرر الآن ما تود اتخاذه من إجراء.

40. He also introduced the note by the Secretariat on languages used for preparation of documents and publications of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (A/C.5/56/19).

41. Mr. Nakkari (Syrian Arab Republic) said that the Advisory Committee's report on the languages used for the preparation of documents and publications of ESCWA should be presented in writing.
41 - السيد النقري (الجمهورية العربية السورية): قال إنه ينبغي تقديم تقرير اللجنة الاستشارية عن اللغات المستخدمة في إعداد وثائق اللجنة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية لغربي آسيا ومنشوراتها كتابة.

The Executive Director of ITC said that ITC had drawn attention to the financial implications of increasing the number of languages used for ITC documentation. It was now for member States to decide how they wished to proceed.
18- وقال الأمين التنفيذي لمركز التجارة الدولية إن مركز التجارة الدولية استرعى الانتباه إلى الآثار المالية المترتبة على زيادة عدد اللغات المستخدمة في وضع وثائق مركز التجارة الدولية وإنه يجب على الدول الأعضاء أن تقرر الآن ما تود اتخاذه من إجراء.

(d) While languages used for the dissemination of information should aim at outreaching to the largest extent possible targeted audiences in the framework of the mandate of each organization, their scope should include all languages normally used by each organization, due regard being given to those applicable at field level.
(د) مع أن اللغات المستخدمة في نشر المعلومات ينبغي أن يكون الهدف منها هو توعية الجماهير المستهدفة في إطار ولاية كل منظمة، على أوسع نطاق ممكن، فإن نطاقها ينبغي أن يشمل جميع اللغات التي تستخدمها عادة كل منظمة، مع إيلاء الاهتمام الواجب للغات المنطبقة على الصعيد الميداني.

33. Orally presenting the Advisory Committee's report on languages used for preparation of documents and publications of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), he recalled that the Advisory Committee had commented on the subject in its first report on the proposed programme budget for the biennium 2002-2003 (A/56/7, paragraph V.74).
33 - وبعد أن عرض شفويا تقرير اللجنة الاستشارية عن اللغات المستخدمة في إعداد وثائق اللجنة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية لغربي آسيا ومنشوراتها، أعاد إلى الأذهان أن اللجنة الاستشارية كانت قد أبدت تعليقات على هذه المسألة في تقريرها الأول عن الميزانية البرنامجية المقترحة لفترة السنتين 2002-2003 (A/56/7، الفقرة خامسا - 74).
