The provisional definitions of low persistent organic pollutant content set out in section III A of the above general technical guidelines;

6. Agrees that the methodology for further definitions of low persistent organic pollutant content and the levels of destruction and irreversible transformation should be included in the work programme of the Open-ended Working Group for 2005 - 2006;]

(b) At the same time to initiate a process of preparing a methodology for an improved definition of low persistent organic pollutant content on a more scientifically sound basis.

In paragraph 8 of decision VII/13, the Conference of the Parties agreed that the methodology for further definition of low persistent organic pollutant POP contents, levels of destruction and irreversible transformation should be included in the work programme of the Open-ended Working Group for 2005- - 2006.

Provisional definitions of low persistent organic pollutant content are provided in section III A of the general technical guidelines for PCBs, PCDDs and PCDFs, as well asnd for the pesticides covered by the Stockholm Convention.

The Working Group agreed to establish a technical matters contact group to consider the technical guidelines on persistent organic pollutants and the methodology for the further definition of low persistent organic pollutant content and of levels of destruction and irreversible transformation, under the chairmanship of Mr. Ernst.
