29 - تتجسد إحدى أهم التحديات في إطار تنفيذ الفصل 13 في كيفية تحويل أفكار ومفاهيم التنمية المستدامة للجبال إلى إجراءات عملية حقيقية وملموسة، ولا سيما على الصعيدين الوطني ودون الوطني.

(a) Raising awareness of the importance of and improving understanding of sustainable mountain development issues at the global, regional and national levels;

(d) Strengthening country capacity to improve planning, implementation and monitoring of sustainable mountain development programmes and activities;
)د( تعزيز قدرة البلدان على تحسين تخطيط وتنفيذ ورصد برامج التنمية المستدامة للجبال وبرامجها؛

3. The Year also led to the adoption of resolution 57/245, in which the General Assembly designated 11 December as International Mountain Day, as from 2003, and encouraged the international community to organize events at all levels on that day to highlight the importance of sustainable mountain development.
3 - وأدت السنة أيضا إلى أن تتخذ الجمعية العامة القرار 57/245، الذي حدّدت فيـه يوم 11 كانون الأول/ديسمبر يوما دوليا للجبال، اعتبارا من عام 2003، وشجـعت المجتمع الدولي على أن ينظـم في ذلك اليوم مناسبات على جميع المستويات لإبـراز أهمية التنميـة المستدامة للجبال.
