The Strategic Approach secretariat is basing its work on the overall orientation and guidance on a methodology that includes an analysis of the data provided during the second reporting cycle on implementation of the Strategic Approach, covering the period 2011 - 2013, on the outcome of regional meetings and on a literature review of existing reports.

An African regional meeting on implementation of the Strategic Approach was held from 14 to 19 July 2008 in Dar es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania, in preparation for the second session of the International Conference on Chemicals Management in 2009.
