The Committee continued its consideration of the topic " Future role and activities of the Committee " , in accordance with the agreement reached at its fifty-second session.

Some delegations expressed the view that, in considering the future role and activities of the Committee, it was important to safeguard the position of the Committee as an important forum for the international community, in particular its function in providing a platform at the global level for consideration of the role of space technology and its applications for the benefit of developing countries.

Some delegations expressed the view that the High-level Panel on Space Exploration, held during the session, had provided insights into the cooperative exploration efforts of relevance to both space-faring and non-space-faring countries that could contribute to the consideration of the future role and activities of the Committee.
