It is used in situations where the Koran or the sunna do not provide an answer to a specific question.
وهو يُستخدم في الحالات التي لا يقدم فيها القرآن ولا السنّة إجابة عن سؤال محدد.

The fourth source of law is qiyas (analogy). Qiyas involves determining the purpose of a legal prescription contained in the Koran or the sunna, and applying it to other similar situations not otherwise provided for.
وأما المصدر الرابع فهو القياس الذي ينطوي على تحديد الغرض من حكم قانوني يرد في القرآن أو السنّة وتطبيقه على حالات مشابهة لا ينصان عليها.

All laws and regulations in force in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at the forefront of which is the Basic Law of Governance, considered to be the political and legal umbrella of the State, derive from the Holy Koran and the sunna of His Messenger, Muhammad.
إن جميع الأنظمة واللوائح المعمول بها في المملكة العربية السعودية وفي مقدمتها النظام الأساسي للحكم الذي يعتبر المظلة السياسية والقانونية للدولة مستمد من القرآن الكريم وسنة رسوله محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم.

(a) The Constitution of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the Book of God and the sunna of His Prophet, as stipulated in article 7 of the Basic Law of Government, which reads as follows:
(أ) دستور المملكة العربية السعودية كتاب الله وسنة رسوله. وهو ما نصت عليه المادة 7 من النظام الأساسي للحكم حيث تنص على:

4. The Kingdom's Basic Law of Governance is derived from the Islamic sharia in accordance with article 7 of the said Law which stipulates that: " Governance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia shall derive its authority from the Book of Almighty God and the sunna of His Messenger by which this and all other laws of the State shall be governed " .
4- النظام الأساسي للحكم في المملكة مستمدٌ من الشريعة الإسلامية، حيث نصت المادة (7) منه على أن " يستمد الحكم في المملكة العربية السعودية سلطته من كتاب الله تعالى، وسنة رسوله.
