١٧٠ - نصت المادة ١٣ من قانون اﻷقاليم الجديدة على أنه في اﻹجراءات المتعلقة باﻷراضي في اﻷقاليم الجديدة، للمحاكم سلطة الاعتراف بأي عرف صيني أو حق عرفي يتعلق بهذه اﻷراضي وإنفاذ هذا العرف أو الحق - وقد ورثت أراضي اﻷقاليم الجديدة التي تخضع للملكية الفردية وفقا للقانون العرفي الصيني المتعلق بالوراثة.

In respect of rural land, except land held in the name of any clan, family or tong, all such land is exempted from Part II of the New Territories Ordinance for the purpose of succession to such land from the commencement of the Ordinance on 24 June 1994.

Its effect was to exempt non-rural land in the New Territories (retrospectively from the date of the relevant land grant) from the application of the New Territories Ordinance.

357. the New Territories small house policy was introduced in the early 1970s to address problems with the standard of rural housing and genuine concerns on the part of the New Territories indigenous community that increasing urbanization would lead to their village lifestyle being swamped or marginalized.
٧٥٣- أدخلت سياسة بناء البيوت الصغيرة في اﻷقاليم الجديدة في أوائل السبعينات لمعالجة المشاكل المتصلة بمستوى السكن الريفي والمشاغل الحقيقية المعرب عنها من جانب مجتمع السكان المحليين في اﻷقاليم الجديدة المتخوﱢفين من كون تزايد التحضر من شأنه أن يطغى على أسلوب عيشهم القروي أو يهمﱢشه.
