457. At its 55th meeting on 19 November 2010, the Committee adopted its statement on the right to sanitation.

A particular measure relating to realising the right to sanitation is the Bucket Eradication Programme.e Prior to 1994, there were nationally some 250,000 households in townships using bucket latrines.
