وثانيا، وبغية زيادة دعم اﻷمم المتحدة ﻷنشطة ومبادرات منظمة الوحدة اﻷفريقية، قرر رؤساء دول وحكومات منظمة الوحدة اﻷفريقية في قمتهم المعقودة في الجزائر، إعلان سنة ٢٠٠٠ سنة السلام في أفريقيا.
