It was clear from the outset that security of access between the fenced area of Varosha and the United Nations-controlled buffer zone would be a key issue.

The following provision is made in your report of 1 July 1993 concerning travel between the United Nations-controlled buffer zone and the fenced area of Varosha (para. 38, fourth item):

(e) United Nations personnel travelling between the southern perimeter of the fenced area of Varosha and the United Nations-controlled buffer zone will also be able to observe free, unhindered and secure travel along the said road;
)ﻫ( أن يمكن أيضا موظفو اﻷمم المتحدة الذين يتنقلون بين الحد الجنوبي لمنطقة فاروشا المسورة والمنطقة العازلة التي تسيطر عليها اﻷمم المتحدة، من مراقبة التنقل بحرية وبأمان وبدون عوائق على طول الطريق المذكور؛

The area between the southern perimeter of the fenced area of Varosha and the United Nations-controlled buffer zone will be included in the unmanning agreement called for by the Security Council in resolution its 889 (1993) of 15 December 1993.
وستندرج المنطقة الواقعة بين الطرف الجنوبي لمنطقة فاروشا المسورة والمنطقة العازلة التي تسيطر عليها اﻷمم المتحدة في اتفاق إخلاء المواقع من اﻷفراد، حسبما دعا إليه مجلس اﻷمن في قراره ٨٨٩ )١٩٩٣( المؤرخ ١٥ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ١٩٩٣.
