With a view to ensuring better implementation of the Set of Principles and Rules, UNCTAD was given the mandate to carry out an ad hoc voluntary peer review on competition law and policy for the first time during the sixth session of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Competition Law and Policy held on 8 - 10 November 2004 in Geneva.
