Presuming intent might place an excessive burden on the alleged signer, and might interfere with the existing law dealing with the formation of contracts or obligations.

In order to address that concern, a number of suggestions were made. One suggestion was that the signature should be attributed to the purported signer if it failed to establish that the use of the signature was unauthorized.
