Ms. JAVATE DE DIOS said that she shared Ms. Abaka's concern for immigrant women, who were usually of Asian origin.

45. Ms. Abaka said that, inasmuch as the questions of women's rights and development were closely linked, she was grateful to the Committee for the contacts established with UNIFEM and UNESCO.
٤٥ - السيدة أباكا: قالت إنه نظرا ﻷن مسألة صندوق المرأة ومسألة التنمية مرتبطتان ارتباطا وثيقا الواحدة باﻷخرى، فإنها تشكر اللجنة للاتصالات الجارية مع صندوق اﻷمم المتحدة الانمائي للمرأة، واليونسكو.

Ms. Abaka said that the inheritance law described in the report blatantly discriminated against women, who were eighth in line for succession to the estate of their deceased spouses.
٣٧ - السيدة أباكا: قالت إن قانون اﻹرث الذي وصف في التقرير يميز بصورة بارزة ضد المرأة التي تحتل المرتبة الثامنة في وراثة تركة زوجها المتوفى.

56. Ms. Abaka pointed out that traditional customs often impeded the development and advancement of women.
٥٦ - السيدة أباكا: أكدت أن العادات التقليدية تعوق عادة النهوض بالمرأة وتطويرها.

28. Ms. Abaka observed that neither part of the report addressed article 3 in any way and hoped the next report would do so.
