وكانوا قد توجهوا إلى عقب ﻷن المتمردين أحرقوا طرور حيث كانوا يعيشون؛

٢٩ - وزارت اللجنة الخاصة إدارة السلام والتوطين، حيث اجتمعت مع نائب رئيس اﻹدارة، الذي أبلغها أن قرية السلام في عقب قد استقبلت، وما زالت تستقبل، أعدادا كبيرة من اﻷشخاص العائدين من طرور.

30. The Special Committee met a large number of individuals and had a series of interviews with some of the persons who had allegedly disappeared from Toror.
٣٠ - واجتمعت اللجنة الخاصة بعدد كبير من اﻷفراد وعقدت سلسلة من اللقاءات مع بعض اﻷشخاص الذين يُزعم أنهم قد اختفوا من طرور.

When the Special Committee spoke with some of the persons whose whereabouts had been indicated by the mayors, sheiks and chiefs, they all denied having been abducted by the armed forces and affirmed that they had left Toror and gone to Agab voluntarily and of their own accord, either before or after the arrival of the armed forces in Toror.
وعندما تحدثت اللجنة الخاصة مع بعض اﻷشخاص الذين أبلغ العمد والمشايخ وزعماء القبائل عن مكان وجودهم، نفوا جميعهم أن القوات المسلحة قد اختطفتهم وأكدوا أنهم قد غادروا طرور وتوجهوا إلى عقب طواعية وبمحض إرادتهم، إما قبل أو بعد وصول القوات المسلحة إلى طرور.

It was also mentioned that members of the investigating team had been told that those who had left Toror and had been reported as disappeared had walked voluntarily to Akab and that they had been practically naked upon arrival because they had been looted by members of SPLA.
وقيل كذلك إن أعضاء فريق التحقيق أبلغوا بأن اﻷشخاص الذين غادروا طرور والذين أبلغ عن اختفائهم إنما ذهبوا طوعا إلى عقاب وأنهم كانوا عراة تقريبا لدى وصولهم ﻷنهم تعرضوا للنهب على يدي أفراد تابعين للجيش الشعبي لتحرير السودان.

In the course of its work, the Special Investigation Committee made reference, inter alia, to the massive displacement of the population from Toror between December 1994 and February 1995 as a result of military operations in that area.
ولقد أشارت اللجنة الخاصة للتحقيق، أثناء الاضطلاع بعملها، في جملة أمور، إلى التشريد الجماعي للسكان من منطقة طرور خلال الفترة ما بين كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر وشباط/فبراير ١٩٩٥، نتيجة العمليات العسكرية التي تمت في المنطقة المذكورة.

10. The urgent appeal sent by the Chairman of the Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances referred to the alleged disappearance of 256 people from Toror after the army of the Government of the Sudan took control of the village in 1995.
١٠ - وكانت قد وردت في المناشدة العاجلة التي أرسلها رئيس الفريق العامل المعني بالتحقيق في حالات الاختفاء القسري أو غير الطوعي إشارة إلى حالات اختفاء مدعاة تخص ٢٥٦ شخصا من منطقة طرور بعد أن استولى جيش حكومة السودان على هذه القرية في عام ١٩٩٥.

The investigations carried out by the team from the Special Investigation Committee led to the identification of 33 people coming from Toror in a location called Akab, which was under the control of the Government of the Sudan during the July 1996 investigations.
وأفضت التحقيقات التي أجراها الفريق التابع للجنة الخاصة للتحقيق إلى تحديد هوية ٣٣ شخصا من طرور في منطقة تدعى عقاب، وهي منطقة كانت خاضعة لسيطرة حكومة السودان خلال فترة التحقيقات التي أجريت في تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٦.

Between December 1994 and February 1995, the population of Toror had gradually moved to Akab, although some of the villagers had reportedly gone further to Kadugli, and others even to Khartoum.
إذ أنه خلال الفترة ما بين كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ١٩٩٤ وشباط/فبراير ١٩٩٥، انتقل سكان طرور تدريجيا إلى عقاب، رغم أن بعض القرويين تجاوزوهـا إلـى كادوقلي حسب التقاريـر، وذهب آخـرون إلى أبعد من ذلك حتى الخرطوم.

In its 15 August 1995 report, the Special Committee, referring to events that had allegedly resulted in the disappearances, stated that it had met Staff Brigadier Sulaiman Abdullah Adam, the commander of the armed forces, and had asked him whether the armed forces had raided the village of Toror on 21 February 1995 and brought back some of its residents.
وأشارت اللجنة الخاصة في تقريرها المؤرخ ١٥ آب/أغسطس ١٩٩٥ إلى اﻷحداث التي يُزعم أنها قد أفضت إلى حالات الاختفاء، وذكرت أنها اجتمعت بالعميد الركن سليمان عبد الله آدم، قائـــد القوات المسلحة، وسألته عما إذا كانت القوات المسلحة قد أغارت على قرية طرور يوم ٢١ شباط/فبراير ١٩٩٥ واقتادت معها بعض سكانها.

He replied that the armed forces had indeed combed that area (the village of Toror) but he denied that they had brought back any residents of that village or compelled them to go to the peace village at Agab.
فرد قائلا إن القوات المسلحة قد مشﱠطت فعلا المنطقة )قرية طرور( ولكنه نفى أنها اقتادت أيﱠا من سكان تلك القرية أو أرغمتهم على التوجه إلى قرية السلام في عقب.

(b) They all said that the presence of the people's armed forces in Toror had provided them with security and had freed them from the clutches of the rebels, who had stripped them of all their property, including the clothes that they were wearing.
)ب( قالوا جميعا إن وجود قوات الشعب المسلحة في طرور وفﱠر لهم اﻷمن وحررهم من قبضة المتمردين الذين جرﱠدوهم من جميع ممتلكاتهم، حتى الثياب التي كانوا يلبسونها.

27. In his 1996 report to the Commission on Human Rights (E/CN.4/1996/62, para. 38) the Special Rapporteur referred to allegations of enforced or involuntary disappearances from Toror village reported to him in 1995 after the Government of the Sudan army took the village from SPLA.
٢٧ - أشار المقــرر الخاص، في تقريره المقدم عـــام ١٩٩٦ إلى لجنة حقوق اﻹنسان )E/CN.4/1996/62، الفقرة ٣٨( إلى ادعاءات بوقوع حالات اختفاء قسري أو غير طوعي من قرية طرور أُخطر بها في عام ١٩٩٥، بعد أن استولت حكومة الجيش السوداني على القرية من الجيش الشعبي لتحرير السودان.
