I clearly see in this election a mark of consideration for, and a tribute to, my country, Gabon, to its President, His Excellency El Hadj Omar Bongo Ondimba, and to the entire African continent.
وإني أجد في هذا الانتخاب شهادة بينة على الاحترام والتقدير لبلادي، غابون، ولرئيسها فخامة الحاج عمر بونغو اونديمبا، وللقارة الأفريقية بأسرها.

The solemn opening of this session provides me with an opportunity to again express my deep gratitude, both for the tribute that has been paid to Africa and for the confidence that has been placed in my country, Gabon, its people and the initiatives of its President, His Excellency El Hadj Omar Bongo Ondimba.
