512. Article 14, paragraph 3 (d), provides that an accused has the right to defend himself in person or through legal counsel of his own choosing.

Article 13 (1) of the Constitution requires that a person arrested shall be informed of the reason of his arrest, and article 13 (3) of the Constitution gives him a right to be heard in person or through an attorney-at-law at a fair trial by a competent court.
