٨ - وإذ يذكﱢر بالتوصية التي وجﱠهها المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي لﻷمم المتحدة إلى الجمعية العامة لكي تعلن العقد اﻷول من اﻷلفية الجديدة عقدا دوليا لثقافة السلام واللاعنف لصالح أطفال العالم؛

This decade was declared the international decade of the World's Indigenous People.
وقد أعلن هذا العقد عقدا دوليا للشعوب اﻷصلية في العالم.

The decade 2001-2010 was designated as the International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World.
وتم تسمية العقد 2001-2010 عقدا دوليا لثقافة السلام واللاعنف من أجل أطفال العالم.

Recalling also General Assembly resolution 43/47 of 22 November 1988, by which the Assembly declared the period 1990-2000 as the International Decade for the Eradication of Colonialism and further recalling resolution 46/181 of 19 December 1991, by which the Assembly adopted a plan of action for the Decade,

447. The President of the Board reminded delegations that the General Assembly had designated the decade 2001-2010 as the International Decade for a Culture of Peace for the Children of the World.
447 - وذكَّر رئيس المجلس الوفود بأن الجمعية العامة أعلنت العقد الممتد من 2001 إلى 2010 عقدا دوليا لثقافة السلام ولصالح أطفال العالم.

This is a particularly appropriate step in view of the General Assembly's emphasis on enhancing the rights of vulnerable groups, as expressed in the Millennium Declaration, and the designation of the period 1994-2004 as the International Decade of the World's Indigenous People.

Unfortunately, in the decade proclaimed as the " International Decade for the Culture of Peace " hundreds of thousands have been killed and injured as a result of war, aggression and occupation, and hostilities and antagonism have increased.
للأسف، قتل وجرح مئات الآلاف في العقد الذي أعلن " عقدا دوليا لثقافة السلام " جراء الحروب والعدوان والاحتلال، وتزايدت العمليات القتالية والعدائية.

In 1988, two years before the thirtieth anniversary of the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples, the General Assembly, in its resolution 43/47, had proclaimed the decade from 1990 to the year 2000 as the International Decade for the Eradication of Colonialism.
وأضاف أن سنة ١٩٩٠ التي شهدت الذكرى الثلاثين لاعتماد إعلان منح الاستقلال للبلدان والشعوب المستعمرة هي في الواقع السنة التي أعلنت فيها الجمعية العامة بموجب قرارها ٤٣/٤٧ العقد ١٩٩٠-٢٠٠٠ عقدا دوليا للقضاء على الاستعمار.

٤ - وأوصى المؤتمر العالمي لحقوق اﻹنسان، المعقود في فيينا في إعلانه وبرنامج عمله، بأن تعلن الجمعية العامة عقدا دوليا للسكان اﻷصليين في العالم، يبدأ في عام ١٩٩٤، ويتضمن برامج عملية المنحى يجري البت فيها مشاركة مع السكان اﻷصليين.
