" (a) To sensitize the international community regarding the critical and catalytic role of science and technology for development;
" )أ( أن تقوم بتوعية المجتمع الدولي بما لتسخير العلم والتكنولوجيا ﻷغراض التنمية من دور حاسم وحفﱠاز؛

2. In General Assembly resolution 39/125 of 14 December 1984, UNIFEM was mandated to play an innovative and catalytic role in the promotion of women’s empowerment and gender equality.
٢ - وقد كلفت الجمعيــة العامة صندوق اﻷمــم المتحدة اﻹنمائــي للمرأة في قرارها ٣٩/١٢٥ المؤرخ ١٤ كانون اﻷول/ ديسمبر ١٩٩٤ بأداء دور ابتكاري وحفﱠاز تعزيزا لتمكين المرأة وتحقيق المساواة بين الجنسين.

وبناء على ذلك، أنشأنا مجلسا قوميا للبيئة والتنمية المستدامة، وقمنا بتنفيذ خطة استراتيجية ﻹدارة النفايات ومعالجة مياه البواليع. ومنحنا حفظ الطبيعة اﻷولوية، ونفذنا اتفاقات بيئية مع شركائنا في القطاعات الصناعية والزراعية والصحية، وحفﱠزنا تعليم البيئة داخل المدارس وخارجها.

٠٨ - وأعلنت اليونيسيف سنة ٧٩٩١ سنة الطفلة وحفﱠزت تدابير متابعة التوصيات المنبثقة عن واحدة من عدة دراسات شاملة بشأن الطفلة.

(a) To sensitize the international community regarding the critical and catalytic role of science and technology for development;
)أ( استثارة وعي المجتمع الدولي بما لتسخير العلم والتكنولوجيا ﻷغراض التنمية من دور حاسم وحفﱠاز؛

(b) UNCTAD, when carrying out technical cooperation, should exploit its comparative advantages, ensure complementarity with the related work of other international organizations, intervene on strategic and catalytic grounds and allow for the differentiated needs of developing countries with a particular focus on the least developed countries (LDCs), in accordance with the Cartegena Commitment.
)ب( وينبغي لﻷونكتاد، عند اضطلاعه بالتعاون التقني، أن يستغل مزاياه النسبية، وأن يكفل التكامل مع اﻷعمال ذات الصلة التي تقوم بها المنظمات الدولية اﻷخرى، وأن يتدخل على أساس استراتيجي وحفﱠاز، وأن يضع فى الحسبان تباين احتياجات البلدان النامية مع التركيز بوجه خاص على أقل البلدان نموا وفقا لالتزام كرتاخينا.

Its mandate is: (a) to support innovative and experimental activities benefiting women, in line with national and regional priorities; (b) to serve as a catalyst, with the goal of ensuring the appropriate involvement of women in mainstream development activities; and (c) to play an innovative and catalytic role in relation to the United Nations system of development cooperation.
وتتمثل الولاية المنوطة بالصندوق فيما يلي: )أ( دعم اﻷنشطة الابتكارية والعملية التي تعود بفائدة على المرأة بما يتمشى مع اﻷولويات الوطنية واﻹقليمية؛ )ب( العمل كعنصر حفﱠاز لضمان مشاركة المرأة على النحو المناسب في اﻷنشطة اﻹنمائية الرئيسية؛ )ج( القيام بدور ابتكاري وحفﱠاز فيما يتعلق بجهاز اﻷمم المتحدة للعاون اﻹنمائي.
