He pointed to the new format of deliberations for the debate on the interrelationship between FDI liberalization and competition policy, and encouraged member countries to participate actively in this debate, as well as in the discussion on criteria to test the development friendliness of investment agreements.
وأشار إلى الصيغة الجديدة للمداولات فيما يجري من نقاش حول التواشج بين تحرير الاستثمار اﻷجنبي المباشر وسياسة المنافسة، وشجع البلدان اﻷعضاء على الاشتراك ايجابياً في هذا النقاش وكذلك في المناظرة المتعلقة بمعايير اختبار الجوانب الحميدة انمائياً في اتفاقات الاستثمار.

The development friendliness of investment agreements needs to be seen in the broader context of the types of policy that countries pursue in order to promote growth and development and the other determinants that influence the location of economic activities.
ويتطلب اﻷمر النظر إلى الجوانب الحميدة انمائياً في اتفاقات الاستثمار في إطار عام يتسع لمختلف أنواع السياسات التـي تأخذ بها البلدان لتعزيز النمو والتنمية وسائر المحوزات التي تؤثر على توطين اﻷنشطة الاقتصادية.

3. With regard to the different criteria for determining the development friendliness of international agreements, it was considered useful for the secretariat to prepare a catalogue of the criteria suggested and make it available to interested delegations.
