the Programme of Action for the LDCs, however, mentions SMF/LDC as being of special interest to these countries.

This recommendation is in line with those of the Programme of Action for the least developed countries for the 1990s, which singles out aid coordination and economic management as priority areas for LDCs and for the assistance of the donor community, in particular of UNDP and the SMF/LDC.

In that context, while it recognized that the least developed countries had the primary responsibility for their development based on appropriate domestic policies, the Commission expressed concern about the problems of the least developed countries within the context of the Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries for the 1990s.
