As an ever increasing number of States are becoming Parties to the Convention and undergoing the process of harmonizing their national legislation with its provisions, the system will further expand.

In that communication, the Committee recalled that the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics had been a State party to the Convention and that consequently the protection against racial discrimination had extended prior to the latter's dissolution to the inhabitants of the territory of the successor States.

Activities aimed at supporting States in acceding to, ratifying and implementing the Convention may include (a) building knowledge and raising the awareness of leaders and policymakers regarding the importance of becoming a party to the Convention; and (b) providing assistance in identifying ratification or accession requirements and in developing national action plans for accession to and ratification and implementation of the Convention.
27- يجوز أن تشمل الأنشطة المعنية بتقديم الدعم إلى الدول في الانضمام إلى الاتفاقية والتصديق عليها وتنفيذها ما يلي: (أ) بناء المعرفة والوعي لدى القيادات ومقرّري السياسات بأهمية أن تصبح الدول أطرافا في الاتفاقية وتوعيتهم بذلك؛ (ب) تقديم المساعدة في تحديد متطلبات التصديق على الاتفاقية أو الانضمام إليها وفي وضع خطط عمل وطنية من أجل التصديق والانضمام إلى الاتفاقية وتنفيذها.
