Fighting between the Gimir and Beni Halba tribes in Katilla locality, Southern Darfur, led to the displacement of an estimated 29,000 people.

On 23 and 24 June, local authorities reported renewed attacks by Beni Halba militia on several Gimir villages in Katilla.

20. A dispute over land ownership triggered fighting, on 28 February, between groups from the Beni Halba and Gimir tribes in Batikha village (95 km south-west of Ed El Fursan, Southern Darfur).

Attempts by Southern Darfur State authorities to resolve the dispute, including through a 25 April decree demarcating the administrative borders between the Beni Halba and Gimir tribes in Katilla and Ed Al Fursan localities, proved ineffective.
وبخصوص المحاولات التي بذلتها سلطات ولاية جنوب دارفور لتسوية النـزاع، بوسائل منها مرسوم مؤرخ 25 نيسان/أبريل يقضي بترسيم الحدود الإدارية بين قبيلتي البني هلبة والقِمِر في محليتَي كتيلة وعِد الفرسان، فقد أثبتت عدم نجاعتها.

24. In Ed Al Fursan locality, Southern Darfur, clashes between the Beni Halba and Gimir tribes over land ownership, which had begun in Batikha village (95 km south-west of Ed Al Fursan) in February, continued sporadically throughout the months of April and May.
24 - وفي محلية عِد الفرسان، الواقعة في جنوب دارفور، استمرت، طوال شهري نيسان/أبريل وأيار/مايو، المصادمات المتقطعة بين قبيلة البني هلبة وقبيلة القِمِر على ملكية إحدى الأراضي، والتي بدأت في شباط/فبراير في قرية بطيخة (الواقعة على بعد 95 كلم جنوب غرب عِد الفرسان).

According to local authorities, on 22 May, Beni Halba militias attacked Katilla (38 km south of Ed Al Fursan), a town predominantly inhabited by the Gimir tribe, resulting in an unspecified number of houses and Government buildings destroyed; 31 civilians reportedly killed and 21 injured; and an estimated 13,000 people displaced.
